When Needed:  Winter 2024-2025, season runs November 4 to February 14                                                             

 

University Prep (UPrep) is seeking an Upper School Basketball Game Day Staffer. Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, works with closely with the Assistant Director of Athletics and the Director of Athletics to help promote, set up, and manage Upper School Basketball games. Candidates for this position must be able to work one to three evenings a week, including some Saturdays, during the Basketball Season which runs from November 4 to February 14. Work hours range from 2:30pm to 7:00pm.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service, direct leadership, and general supervision of Upper School Basketball games
  • Assists athletic staff with game day set-up
  • Provides Scorekeeping and Clock operation for Upper School Basketball games in the Pumadome, the school gym
  • Works closely with athletic staff to create game day media materials
  • Assists Athletic Department with creating monthly publications
  • Maintains and operates the proper use of equipment and supplies
  • Enforces facility and equipment rules
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Since safety and security are everyone’s responsibility, takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain valid First Aid/CPR card

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be dependable
  • General knowledge of basketball league rules and equipment
  • Ability to operate scorebook or scorebook at Upper School games
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions 
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
  • Sense of humor, energy and enthusiasm and ability to hold students and oneself to high expectations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to use game day  equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outside in any weather
  • Some local travel may be required

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay rate of $25.00 per hour and eligible for statutory benefits only.
