Position Summary:
The Court Liaison works closely with program staff to track review hearing dates and ensure all parties are notified in alignment with the court schedule. They obtain duplicate court dockets, inform staff and attorneys of upcoming hearings, and address any communication or procedural issues between TVS staff and the legal system. Additionally, they prepare summary reports on legal proceedings, attend court hearings, and coordinate case staffing with relevant stakeholders. The role involves fostering strong relationships with case managers, legal services, and the judiciary to ensure smooth court-related processes and case outcomes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with program staff to track review hearing dates, ensuring they align with the court schedule and that all parties involved are notified.
- Obtain duplicate court dockets and inform staff and attorneys of any upcoming hearings or motions related to TVS cases.
- Identify and address communication or procedural issues between TVS staff and the legal system, working with relevant case stakeholders to find solutions.
- Attend court hearings assigned and prepare for them in advance.
- Prepare summary reports on the status of legal conferences or hearings and case outcomes for program management or other relevant parties.
- Conduct diligent searches and family finding efforts to ensure all options are explored.
- Coordinate case staffing with supervisors, team members, providers, DCF, attorneys, and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Ensure that all necessary document attachments are provided and filed with court reports.
- Review legal documents for accuracy.
- The Court Liaisons will work collaboratively with Case Managers, Children’s Legal Services, the Guardian Ad Litem Program and the Judiciary as it relates to all court related processes.
- Foster relationships between case managers, children’s legal services, GAL, and the Court. Identify and understand what resources are available and build and maintain effective working relationships within a network of systems.
