Description

SUMMARY: Individual in this position will be responsible for the supervision of all behavioral health technician job functions in the environment and for providing sufficient work crews, off facility trips, and coordination of all activities and functions in the Point Office. Responsible for all interaction with consumers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, as well as performance of other work related duties as assigned:

  1. Assist medical staff with supervising observed self-medication procedure and obtaining consumers prescriptions.
  2. Assist medical staff with coordinating consumer trips to hospital, doctors appointments, etc.
  3. Coordinate Consumer sick call.
  4. Facilitate groups i.e. orientation group, house meetings, step group, etc.
  5. Assist therapists with consumer interventions and redirect consumers when behavior is inappropriate.
  6. Provide input in clinical team meetings.
  7. Communicate with other clinical staff via the staff communication log.
  8. Communicate directly with the Program Directors/Coordinators, via voice mail if necessary, regarding consumers leaving treatment, injuries, or major infractions of rules, including acts of violence and drug use.
  9. Distribute paperwork to Program Directors/Coordinators and clinical staff.
  10. Handling and coordinating special requests by consumers when Therapist or Program Directors/Coordinators are unavailable, i.e., clothing needs, medical trips, etc.
  11. Maintain safety in and security of the facility.
  12. Assign, train and supervise consumers in job functions.
  13. Responsible for all trips off the facility and entering Therapist approved trip slips into the log.
  14. Assign consumer strength.
  15. Coordinate court pick-ups, trips from the Business Office, Juvenile Justice, Adolescent, and Grants Department as necessary.
  16. Transport consumers as necessary.
  17. Pick up new consumers from Intake at the Clinical Building.
  18. Orient new consumers to policies and procedures and take care of their immediate needs and requests.
  19. Ensure that all consumers are adhering to established group and activity schedules.
  20. Administer new consumer questionnaire and assist in the completion of the resident package.
  21. Search consumers for drugs, illegal items, contraband, etc. at admission and as necessary
  22. Give consumers preventative lice cleansing agents.
  23. Assign dorms.
  24. Perform through searches of dorms and common areas periodically for paraphernalia illegal items, and other contraband.
  25. Collect urine specimens and conduct urinalysis from all consumers as needed.
  26. Facilitate the process of grievance and incident reporting with consumers.
  27. Complete online incident reports as required by WestCare policy and procedure.
  28. Provide role modeling in the areas of appropriate communication and interaction with consumers and peers.

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to perform basic computer operations including email and filling out electronic forms.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • One (1) year of experience in providing services in the field of substance abuse treatment is required.
  • Hands on and electronic training are provided covering a broad spectrum of topics involved with client care, psychology and addiction field
  • Valid drivers license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required;
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an annual Tuberculosis test.
  • Ability to provide an Affidavit of Good Moral Character
  • Clearance in Pre-Employment Drug Testing and Criminal Records Checks, as required.
