Description

Position Summary:

The Camp Director coordinates all aspects of the Camp Mariposa® program and supervises all program personnel. Camp Mariposa® is a free, weekend overnight camp program for children (9-12) impacted by substance abuse. Job Functions include those listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Acts as a Director for the weekend Camp Mariposa Program on a bi-monthly basis, planning, overseeing and monitoring all aspects of the program;
  • Recruits and retains 30 campers ages 9-12, recruits and retains 10 mentors age 18+, and recruits and retains a Registered Nurse;
  • Trains and supervises camp staff, volunteers, and interns;
  • Prepares and submits reports as required by camp grants;
  • Oversees the intake and screening of program participants;
  • Complies with all policies and procedures of WestCare and its funders, and prepares and submits reports as required by WestCare and its funders;
  • Acts as a representative of WestCare within the community;
  • Cultivates and maintains partnerships that benefit WestCare and the program within the community;
  • Attend professional development trainings, meetings and events as applicable;
  • Responds to all emergency situations that would necessitate intervention;
  • Maintains current knowledge of the state abuse reporting procedures;
  • Monitors the program for fidelity to evidence-based components and overall quality;
  • Participates in program sustainability efforts;
  • Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Experience and Competencies:

  • 3+ years of experience in a social services setting required;
  • 5+ years experience coordinating, managing, and/or monitoring programs serving children and their families preferred;
  • Extremely strong computer skills and a proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications required;
  • Extensive project management skills (e.g., budget and grant/contract compliance) required;
  • Strong goal setting, project planning, organization, and follow-through skills required;
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, clients and families required;
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations required;
  • Skilled in conflict resolution required;
  • Ability to work well, both individually and as part of a team required;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously required;
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion required;
  • Adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct required;
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required;

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or outdoor setting;
  • Travel between multiple locations will be required.
