Position Summary:

Person in this position will provide medical services to Clients which includes medically-assisted treatment for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides medical screenings and examinations on program participants.
  • May care for patients with common illness or minor injuries and/or refers patients to appropriate medical setting for health treatment.
  • Observes, determines, reports and records changes in objective signs and subjective symptoms.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team, participates in assessments of clients admitted to Turning Point Treatment program, to include physical, social, medical, substance abuse and mental health assessments, and in the development of treatment and placement plans.
  • Oversight of self-administration of patient medications at the facility, provide non-prescription medications as needed, and evaluation of on-going health status of clients.
  • Inventory medications on a monthly basis and properly dispose of medications (following medication disposal protocol) as necessary.
  • Insure completion of and adherence to all safety guidelines.
  • Maintain medical portion of clinical record.
  • Work with area medical personnel to facilitate compliance with all recommendations.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Mat require local travel.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

 

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Must hold valid Nurse Practitioner License (APRN) in the state of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

 

Education:

  • Master’s degree OR Post-Master’s certification from a college or university awarding related APRN credits.

 

Experience and Competencies:

  • At least One (1) year of experience in providing medical services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred;
  • At least One (1) year working as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN).
  • Intake and assessment experience is preferred;
  • Marketing and/or sales experience preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment;
  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;
  • Professional appearance and demeanor;
  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served;
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required;
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an annual Tuberculosis test.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; and
  • Some outdoor activities may be required.
