POSITION SUMMARY:

The person in this position will oversee crisis response operations, providing expert assessment and intervention for individuals in mental health crisis in Madera County and clients of the Department of Behavioral Health. This role involves responding to crisis calls, conducting 51/50 assessments, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety and well-being of client in crisis. Arrange for hospitalization when required. Licensed Clinician will promote best practices in crisis management, provide support to Pre-Licensed clinicians, and foster and maintain relationships with colleagues and  community partners.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Respond to crisis calls in a timely manner, conducting thorough 51/50 assessments to determine the need for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization;
  • Provide clinical interventions and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises;
  • Supervise and mentor junior clinicians, providing guidance on crisis intervention techniques and assessment protocols;
  • Collaborate with emergency services, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care and support;
  • Assist staff at arriving at solutions to client problems as they relate to mental health issues;
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of assessments, interventions, and referrals in provided Electronic Health Record  (EHR) system;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss cases, share insights, and develop treatment plans;
  • Participate in staff training as it relates to crisis intervention and therapeutic skills;
  • Stay updated on best practices in crisis management, mental health legislation, and community resources;
  • Participation in Quality Improvement activities on an ongoing basis;
  • Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from LEIE, MSIL, and EPLS.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Madera County Credentialing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain jail clearance.
  • As mandated by the State of California those employees who work at Residential, Outpatient, Sober Living, provide Mental Health Services, Administrative Staff or Transitional Living Facilities must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited college with master’s degree in a discipline leading to licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical counselor (LPCC) is required at time of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting;
  • Some outdoor activities may be required; and
  • Some travel is required.
