Position Summary:

Person in this position will work in collaboration with a mental health/substance abuse counselor to provide mental health & substance abuse services to patients/clients of WestCare who have been diagnosed with a substance abuse disorder, a mental illness or both. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assess resource needs of patients.
  • Educate and refer patients to community agencies and businesses that appropriately address the patients needs for food, shelter, clothing, employment, transportation, etc.
  • Assist patients with establishing or re-establishing support systems within their community.
  • Act as advocate on behalf of the patient to improve access to needed services.
  • Participate in clinical staffing decisions regarding the patients current strengths and resources and their need for additional resources.
  • Complete documentation of services on provided forms in a timely manner.
  • Provides input into the patients treatment needs and disposition.
  • Assists other WestCare staff as needed in a collaborative manner to promote cooperation and portray a professional image to the community.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

Certifications/Licenses:

  • College degree; Associates with experience or bachelors with minimal experience
  • If no degree a minimum of 3 years experience as a case manager
  • Possess or able to obtain Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card
  • Able to pass Arizona Central Registry background check
  • As mandated by Presidential Order all employees of WestCare Foundation, Inc. and all affiliates of WestCare Foundation, Inc. will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 effective 11/1/2021. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly.
  • During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you

Education:

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in Behavioral Health and/or substance use counseling; or an Associates degree with a behavioral health major and/or substance use counseling or working towards a degree with comparable years of qualifying experience

Experience and Competencies:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a manner that is pleasant and professional.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word program formats or the ability to learn.
  • Ability to respond as needed to crisis situations in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to complete work tasks within scheduled work hours.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to seek out new work projects and contribute ideas and efforts to the constant improvement of WestCare services.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily in a professional, office setting.
  • Normal work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular attendance is required. Working overtime is required and essential to perform job duties at times.
