Position Summary:

The Youth Center Program Coordinator serves as a junior-level member of the leadership team and oversees the daily operations of the program to which they are assigned. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as a member of the programs leadership team, overseeing the daily operation of the program to which they are assigned, and providing supervision to assigned staff;
  • Ensures staff adherence to the policies and procedures of the program and WestCare;
  • Serves as a mentor to staff members, providing training and coaching where needed;
  • Assists and advises the Program Manager regarding program changes, design, development, etc.;
  • Provides regular reports to the Program Manager;
  • Responds to incidents in manner that is consistent with WestCares policies and procedures, and gives direction during emergency situations;
  • Mentors youth enrolled in the Champions Program and monitor their academic and social/emotional development;
  • Provides high quality programming and services that touch 100+ youth, ages 12-19, each year;
  • Manages the services and outcomes of the Remote Youth Case Worker/Youth Coach;
  • Manages, schedules, and evaluates programming of partner agencies during out-of-school-time center-based periods;
  • Assists the Youth Advisory (youth-led) council in planning events and activities for the Center;
  • Maintains regular, open communications with youth families;
  • Ensures grant deliverables are being met within the limits of the approved budget;
  • Prepares data and reports for funders (monthly and at 6 and 12 month intervals);
  • Creates and maintains student files and student success plans;
  • Facilitates a monthly program coordination meeting with the program partners in the Youth Champions Collaborative;
  • Helps find community services, work, and job shadowing opportunities for the youth;
  • Makes referrals to partner agencies when applicable;
  • Facilitates and conducts program activities and prevention education classes with youth
  • Provides supervision during program hours and field trips;
  • Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation;
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Relevant certification and/or licensure is preferred; preference will be given to certified candidates;
  • CPR Certification is preferred;
  • Valid drivers license and the ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required.

 

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or other field related to the position is required;
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

 

Experience and Competencies:

  • At least one (1) years experience working in a similar position within WestCare, or two (2) years experience working with youth in a similar position required;
  • Experience working with youth (ages 12-19) in a similar role preferred;
  • Case management and coaching experience preferred
  • Understanding of prevention science and experience teaching prevention education preferred.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective, professional, and positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and program participants required;
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and train required;
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations required;
  • Skills in conflict resolution required;
  • Ability to work well, both individually and as part of a team required;
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion required;
  • Adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct required;
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required;

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an indoor office or classroom setting;
  • Occasional outdoor work and travel between multiple locations may be required;
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required throughout employment;
