Position Reports To: Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

 

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

 

Hourly Rate: $25

 

Benefits: Limited University's benefits

 

Days & Hours: Variable weekly schedule to be established by supervisor. Flexible schedule may require evening and weekend hours during peak periods.

 

BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB:

The Data Analyst position is a support position for institutional research, working in the domains of institutional reporting, business analytics, and financial analytics. The primary responsibility of the Data Analyst is to provide accurate and impactful, and analytic reporting that will help reveal actionable next steps and guide tactics and strategy at the university

This position requires the ability to fully understand complex objectives and goals, and measurement frameworks that help ensure correct data reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The PT Data Analyst will:

  • Assist current institutional and business analysts in creating institutional reports combining recruitment/applicant data (housed in Recruit) and enrollment data (housed in Colleague).
  • Work with the current institutional analyst on simplifying and automating current and requested institutional reports, such as the inquiry-to-enrollment funnel.
  • Work with the current institutional analyst on creating data elements focusing on academic reporting.
  • Assist in validating data reports and correct potential inconsistencies statistically
  • Assist current institutional and business analysts in data cleaning efforts.
  • Take on a pivotal role in creating enrollment, retention, and graduation dashboards for Senior Leadership, deans, program directors, faculty, and other staff.
  • Assist in predictive modeling and other types of ad-hoc data analysis projects

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • Strong proficiency in Python, including Pandas, for analyzing, validating, and categorizing datasets with possible redundancies and inconsistencies
  • Ability to programmatically validate data reporting results and flag potential inconsistencies statistically
  • Solid experience with MS Excel, pivot tables, built-in functions, and charting
  • Experience using Tableau to implement visualized and interactive reporting dashboards
  • Ability to write and interpret complex SQL for data retrieval
  • Ability to abstract information requirements from real-world data requests
  • Knowledge of using PowerPoint and Word to create data reports
  • Ability to multitask, set priorities, and work efficiently
  • Excellent communication
  • At least 1 year of work experience in data analysis
