Illinois College invites applications for a Designer/Technical Director beginning August 2025. This is a 75% time position. It requires a generalist who will teach Stagecraft and design/provide oversight for all technical needs for one show each semester. Candidates with the ability to teach in additional areas—such as Graphic Design, Digital Art, or Visual Communication—will be especially valuable. Preferred ability to support various Communication Arts initiatives, such as teaching digital tools, helping students create digital content and online platforms, or experiential and immersive designs/installations.

Qualifications include experience in design and technical direction at the college or professional level, and commitment to teaching students in a liberal arts context. MFA in technical direction/production with emphasis in scenic design preferred; equivalent experience considered. Recent MFAs are encouraged to apply.
