What are we looking for in a Nurse?
This RN position supports our mobile MAT services, a new program which will help us increase access to evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorders to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The program currently provides medication assisted treatment daily to clients incarcerated at the Yakima County Justice Center, with plans to expand mobile MAT services to other hard-to-access populations throughout the greater Yakima community. Working from the mobile unit, the RN administers medications to clients, provides education about prescriptions and general health needs, and monitors for intended effects and possible adverse reactions. Support is also provided to the outpatient opioid treatment program, which doses methadone. This position requires a Nurse who supports the evidence-based model of medication-assisted treatment and is committed to providing exceptional care to individuals experiencing significant challenges. Excellent communication and care coordination skills are essential in this role. This position has a schedule of Friday, Saturday, Sunday 5am-5:30pm each week.

Nursing duties may include:

  • administering medications (including injections) and monitoring clients’ symptoms & response to medication
  • utilizing electronic dispensing software for medication administration
  • counseling clients about medications and treatment
  • completing nursing assessments and monitoring for symptoms of dyskinesia, sedation, or intoxication prior to administering any medication
  • reviewing all new prescriptions for contraindications and coordinating care with other healthcare providers as needed to ensure safe treatment
  • monitoring supply levels of methadone, suboxone, and dispensing supplies; completing daily inventory; and following protocol for receiving shipments
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
  • completing all clinical documentation in timely and client-centered manner

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse license in Washington State
