Saint Andrew’s School celebrates having a robust and active performing arts program for its students in Grades PK-12. Coursework in music, dance, and drama provides students with exciting opportunities to explore and grow their talents across a range of genres and styles; through their teaching, instructors encourage creativity, self-expression, the development of artistic craft, critical thinking, and collaboration. 

 

Position Summary: 

The teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Saint Andrew’s policies. The expectation is for teachers to be able to teach multiple levels of Spanish, and proficiency in different languages is preferred. The teacher will join a department committed to professional collaboration and the support of school-wide equity and justice goals through the curriculum offered in world language courses.  Candidates will generally teach five sections, serve as advisor to 12-14 students, and be assigned supervisory duties according to the needs of the division.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences that promote student growth and academic achievement.
  • Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
  • Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures.
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with peers to enhance curriculum and instruction.
  • Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating activities and plans.
  • Maintains expertise in subject matter through professional development.
  • Stays current with technology advances and incorporates technology in the classroom.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Prior experience teaching in an Upper School 
  • Experience teaching Spanish, French, and English as a Second language preferred
  • Experience with AP and IB preferred 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents
  • Possess an understanding of technology to facilitate teaching, grades, and communication
  • Possess collegiality and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive school culture
  • Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development
     

Physical Demands:  Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
