Position Summary:
The Director of Financial Aid and Associate Director of Upper School Admission reports to the Director of Enrollment Management and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Financial Aid process, including need-based financial aid for new and returning families, the Distinguished Scholar Award program, and tuition remission. This role also supports the Director of Upper School Admission and Director of Boarding School Admission in all aspects of Upper School admissions, including giving campus tours.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Aid

  • Work with the Director of Enrollment Management to develop and execute financial aid strategies, related to recruitment, enrollment management, and retention.

  • Partner with the Director of Enrollment Management to set budgets and strategy for need-based, financial aid, remission, boarding, and Distinguished Scholar Awards.

  • Manage all parts of the need-based financial aid process for both new and returning families:

    • Create and schedule communications related to the application process and timeline for both new and returning families.

    • Manage the Clarity financial aid application process and schedule reminders ensuring families complete the process by determined deadlines.

    • Review all financial aid applications in Clarity and follow up with families if additional documentation is needed.

    • For new families, schedule Financial Aid Committee meetings with Director or Enrollment Management and Directors of Lower, Middle and Upper School Admission to review need-based applications and make recommendations for awards.

    • For returning families, determine any financial changes on a yearly basis and communicate to families.

    • Maintain all information and records in the Clarity and the master Financial Aid spreadsheet.

  • Working with the Director of Upper School Admission and the Director of Boarding Admission, manage the budget, application process, and awarding of the Distinguished Scholar Awards for entering (rising and new) grade 9 students.

  • Working with the Director of Enrollment Management, manage the tuition remission budget and track funding.

  • Manage the financial aid review and appeal process for families of all applicants requesting financial assistance.

  • Meet with families experiencing financial difficulties as needed.

  • Stay current on all financial aid best practices and attend professional development conferences.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
     

Upper School Admissions (Day and Boarding)

  • Assist in all aspects of the Upper School Admission Process: recruitment, enrollment, retention.

  • Interview and tour prospective families and students.

  • Attend and represent SA at feeder school fairs, events, and conferences as needed.

  • Assist the Director of Upper School Admission in planning and executing events: Open Houses, student and parent visits, yield and information night events. 

  • Partner with the Director of Upper School Admission in managing Upper School enrollment goals; 

  • Serve on the Upper School Admission Committee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree preferred

  • 5+ years of experience working in Financial Aid with independent school admission experience preferred

  • Expertise in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel; Experience with Finalsite, Clarity or other enrollment and financial aid software preferred

  • Advanced data manipulation, exceptional analytical skills

  • Must hold a valid Florida Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • A big-picture, strategic thinker who is flexible, highly detail-oriented, and has impeccable follow-through skills.

  • Excellent communication skills including patience, compassion and the ability to represent Saint Andrew’s in front of professional audiences. Exceptional oral, written, telephone, and email communication skills.

  • Ability to deal diplomatically and comfortably with families applying for financial aid. 

  • Sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with prospective families and families seeking financial aid.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed and highly motivated to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive, fluid environment. 

  • Understanding and support of Saint Andrew’s mission and the institution’s enrollment priorities. 

  • High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations. 

  • High ethical standards.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.

  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive work environment.

Physical Demands:  Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25lbs.
