Position Summary
The Director of Alumni Engagement is an essential member of the Advancement team, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni annual giving program that includes extensive outreach to alumni constituents. This position will cultivate relationships with alumni and current students and collaborate with Advancement colleagues and volunteers to increase annual giving revenue, broaden the base of support, and retain and upgrade donors through appropriate stewardship. The position is responsible for executing an alumni engagement strategic plan cultivating a multi-generational alumni constituency to build lifelong connections with Saint Andrew’s School. The focus will be on alumni relations, alumni programming, and alumni annual giving.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the relationship with the Alumni Board of Directors, providing strategic direction, managing board needs, empowering volunteers in the work of executing engagement and fundraising strategies, and recruiting new board members.
- Develop, implement, and manage donor-centered and data-driven strategies to plan and execute alumni annual giving goals and objectives. Serve as a front-line fundraiser for unrestricted annual giving from alumni, students, faculty and staff, and friends of Saint Andrew’s to exceed fundraising goals for dollars raised and participation.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 alumni annual fund prospects through the donor cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Routinely identify and qualify alumni major gift and planned gift prospects.
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive alumni communications strategy through a coordinated matrix of communications involving email, direct mail, social media, website, publications, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities, all focused on shaping a lifelong connection and sustainable tradition of annual support.
- Develop, coordinate, manage, and analyze all alumni events to ensure engagement and follow-up goals are met. Events include but are not limited to Reunion Weekend, Homecoming, Alumni Regional Travel Events, Annual 5K Run & Walk, Alumni Career Day, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Legacy Breakfast, Alumni Webinars, and Young Alumni Luncheon.
- Develop and manage the Alumni & Parent Mentorship and Internship Program (SA Connect). Recruit mentors and users within the Saint Andrew’s community.
- Develop and implement an Alumni Stewardship Plan
- Develop and implement a Young Alumni Program.
- Identify, recruit, and manage the Class Agent program.
- Oversee the development of programs to educate and inspire current students to appreciate the value of a life-long relationship with Saint Andrew’s. Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engagement in alumni programs.
- Capture donor information and cultivation activities in Raiser’s Edge. Work in collaboration with Advancement Services to obtain reports and conduct assessments.
- Assist in the advancement of and provide oversight for the alumni budget. Manage budget requests, maintain records, and review budgets and expenditures for all programs administered.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.
