General Vision

Help lead the Kids Ministry of Veritas Church by leading kids ministry staff, partnering with and shepherding families, leading and equipping kids volunteers, and working with the Family Ministry Pastor to live out the vision and direction of Veritas Kids.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Oversee the day to day functions of kids ministry and staff
  • Actively participate as part of the Family Ministry Team
  • Shepherd parents as needs arise
  • Be a pastoral presence for Kids Ministry on Sunday mornings
  • Assist in the improvement of kids ministry curriculum
  • Seek to improve the environments of Kids Ministry on Sundays
  • Intentionally seek to equip and care for the teachers in Kids Ministry
  • Maintain and improve a high level of ministry that aligns with the mission and vision of Veritas

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for the pastoral process and meet the biblical requirements for Pastor/Elder

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.

  • Family/Elementary Ministry experience preferred
  • Previous experience shepherding kids and parents in the gospel

  • Experience leading volunteer team of more than 20 people, preferred

  • Communication - Has clarity of speech and proper use of grammar. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, instruct, and encourage through effective communication in various settings. Able to communicate and work within a complex organizational structure with multiple layers of input. Ability to engage, interact with, teach, equip, and train students in a large group setting.
  • Detail Oriented & Organizational Skills - Proven skills in creating, implementing, maintaining, and following through on processes that ensure people are engaged, cared for, informed and connected. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Able to successfully develop new and better ways to work and promote a continuous improvement mentality.
  • Leadership Development - Skilled at multiplying effective ministry leaders who can communicate and uphold the values of Veritas Church. Ability to lead, recruit, resource, and mobilize volunteer teams to scale. Ability to recruit, manage, and lead resident/intern teams. Ability to engage, interact with, teach, equip, and train students. Able to teach and to generate content and curriculum.
  • Collaborative Leadership - Strong complementary leadership skills in relation to the rest of the congregation staff team and an ability to lead in concert with other leaders. Ability to integrate multiple perspectives and synthesize them into a cohesive plan. Ability to learn, improve and enforce the student safety policies.

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Adequate vision and hearing to supervise children and interact with volunteers.
  • Ability to engage in physical activities with young children, including playing and moving around the classroom.
  • Dexterity to perform tasks such as preparing materials, handling small objects, and using classroom equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
