Description

CULTURE: 

Melissa Memorial Hospital is looking for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)  to bring a unique perspective to the care of the sick or injured. You will be an integral part of the EMS team by helping care for patients in the pre-hospital environment.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Assist the paramedics, other EMS, and hospital staff in providing patient care in the pre-hospital setting and Emergency Department
  • Safely and effectively providing high quality basic life-support including assessment, triage, treatment as well as technical procedures to all pre-hospital, emergency department or other hospital/clinic patients
  • Airway management
  • Initiating IV access 
  • Collecting blood samples
  • Administering approved medication
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • IO placement
  • Patient assessment
  • History gathering

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

    MINIMUM:

Required Skills

  • Analytical, organized, multi-tasked, excellent communicator, collaborative, relationship building, scheduling.

Required Experience

  • State or NREMT certification as EMT Basic
  • High school, GED, or Associated Degree. 
  • BLS certification including CPR, First Aid, and AED.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
