Work Environment:
The Health & Safety Manager requires a lot of variability and flexibility in working within many different environments.
- Work time will be split between indoors/office and outdoors/field.
- Exposure to dust, fumes/offensive smells, and chemicals (fuel, concrete) in the field.
- Close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level varies from low to loud depending on location, i.e., office to plant, respectively.
- Various public sites and customer job sites as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Lift a maximum weight of 30 lbs., carry between 5-30 lbs., push/pull between 5-30 lbs., reach overhead, and reach away from body.
- Walk, stand, sit, kneel, squat, and climb between 1 to 12 hours a day, varying depending on the schedule of each day.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 5-years’ experience in a similar skilled position.
Special Skills:
- Written communication, verbal communication, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office with a focus on Word and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of governmental agencies and regulations (MSHA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Certifications:
- Environmental and safety courses (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid (preferred)
- OSHA Construction 10 AND OSHA Construction 30 (preferred)
Industry Related Experience or Skills:
- Background in concrete, construction, transportation, environmental or safety (preferred)
