Description

Westchester Day School is seeking full-time educators for the 2025-2026 school year in the following areas:

  • Elementary School Ivrit and Judaic Studies
  • Middle School Ivrit
  • Middle School Judaic Studies

The successful candidate will have a passion for Jewish Education, strong curricular and pedagogical knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit.

About the School 

Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, excellent middot, community and academic rigor. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and implement lessons and activities that are developmentally and grade appropriate and follows the set curricular goals
  • Follow the curricular materials and goals laid out by the school
  • Establish and maintain a high standard for classroom management and student engagement 
  • Promote active participation of all students to ensure a positive and rewarding experience in the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration regarding the social, emotional, and academic development of students 
  • Maintain close partnerships with families, including phone calls, conferences, and written communications as needed
  • Use a wide variety of teaching strategies to differentiate instruction to support a range of learners
  • Remain open to learning and growing personally and professionally

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in the content area of instruction. Master’s preferred.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent Hebrew speaker with knowledge of teaching Hebrew as a second language is necessary for teaching teaching Ivrit
  • Possess a deep understanding of the Jewish holidays, Tefillah and weekly Parsha
  • Mastery over lesson planning and the ability to plan and teach towards clear curricular goals set by the school.
  • Strong character and professional references.
  • Effective communication skills, positive and collaborative growth mindset.

Salary range for this role is $60,000- $75,000, depending upon education and experience.
