 Summary/Objective

Performs a wide variety of mechanical engineering design tasks which require basic knowledge of engineering theory and principles to determine design solutions for mechanical packaging of electronic, electromechanical and optical equipment / systems. Tasks require knowledge of Computer Aided Design, CAD, tools and documentation techniques like 3d modeling and drawings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Individual contributor working under direction of technical leadership with minimal expected self-direction on complex military and government contracts.
  • Improve depth of product domain knowledge.
  • Plan, analyze, design, test and document hardware of low complexity under the guidance of a more senior engineer.
  • Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements, industry and military standards (ANSI, ISO, ASME, IEEE, MIL-STD, etc.), utilizing internal processes and tools, and soliciting vendor information.
  • Contribute to engineering estimates on hardware designs.
  • May provide Material Review Board analysis and disposition of DataPath and/or supplier products.
  • Utilizes company CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools and Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) software to create and store CAD models, engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and vendor data sheets.
  • Collaborates on, and writes, Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports, CDRL/SDRL deliverables, and other technical documentation.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Protects company IP and technical data from unauthorized disclosure; complies with ITAR regulations.
  • Supports new product proposals as required.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • No direct supervisory responsibility of others.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related engineering field; or in the absence of a bachelor's degree, minimum of eight years related experience.
    • Candidates must have degree prior to start of employment.
  • Experience working with SolidWorks®, CREO or other CAD based mechanical design programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office® programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
