SCHEDULE:

Thursday and Friday:  330p-630p at the Barkley Early Learning Center

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Early Childhood Custodian performs routine janitorial duties to ensure cleanliness of facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, showers, restrooms, and other assigned areas of the building following the assigned daily, weekly and monthly Tasks Sheet.
  2. Empty waste containers.
  3. Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
  4. Report building problems.
  5. Report supply stock problems.
  6. Dispose of trash and performs sidewalk/exterior clean up.
  7. Complete the weekly task chart.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate (or equivalent).
  2. Emotional, social, and physical capability to work independently.
  3. A willingness to continue education pertaining to Early Childhood Education.
  4. Must be willing to obtain upon hire: Negative TB test, and clear criminal history and background check. The YMCA will pay for all trainings as long as employees remain employed for at least six months.
  5. Must complete assigned Child Abuse Prevention Training upon hire.
  6. Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs.

Recommended Qualities:

  1. Ability to use equipment and chemicals in prescribed manner, including ability to read labels, MSDS information sheets, and instructions.
  2. Have an ability to stay alert to potential safety and security problems.
  3. Work independently with an ability to carry out instructions independently.
  4. Successfully get along with people with diverse backgrounds.
