- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of experience in media outreach and compelling copywriting, with a focus on advocacy-driven communications.
- Proven track record of creating and pitching content that secures local and national media coverage, particularly in the environmental, advocacy, or nonprofit sectors.
- Strong ability to write persuasively to mobilize public support, influence policy discussions, and drive action on advocacy-related issues through strategic storytelling.
- Experience in adapting tone and technique across various audiences and communications channels, including traditional media, email campaigns, social media, and digital content.
- Experience producing and pitching engaging copy for a variety of projects, including:
- Press releases and media relations
- Op-eds, advocacy campaigns, and thought leadership pieces
- Digital content for websites, email campaigns, and social media
- Magazine articles and newsletters
- Park signage and kiosks
- Annual reports, presentations, letters, and memos
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple high-priority projects, manage shifting deadlines, and incorporate feedback from multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with environmental issues, advocacy strategies, and media markets related to conservation, climate, and sustainability.
