EmpowerOKC Youth Advocate Job Description
Purpose: The Youth Advocate plays an important role on Lilyfield’s Youth Mentoring team by providing group and individual education, mentoring, and support to at-risk youth using a variety of interventions including structured in-school and after-school education groups, and individual youth coaching and mentoring.
Job Responsibilities:
- Become trained in the interventions as the group facilitator
- Provide group education as a trainer
- Provide individual mentoring services to youth
- Assist with pre-school learning club as needed
- Recruit participants in the community through strong relationships with other community resources
- Create a fun and interactive environment for youth to learn
- Support and provide positive connections with youth and their families
- Support individual training make-up or follow up sessions
- Travel to and from the locations where youth live for education and support
- Case coordination and management in conjunction with other service providers such as foster care workers, counselors, teachers, etc.
- Maintain and cultivate the strong partnership between community resources and Lilyfield
- Identify needs in the target community and create solutions to meet those needs
- Maintain awareness of and relationships with a variety of other services providers
- Assist in collecting data from each participant during the group sessions and maintain case files
- Maintain data collection tools such as excel spreadsheets, client/case management software
- Various marketing and PR activities for the agency
- Some driving may be required
- Other tasks as assigned

Work Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm, some evenings and weekends for group programming.
Reporting:
This position reports to the EmpowerOKC Youth Program Manager.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma with three years of work experience along with lived experience in the community we are serving or Bachelor’s level degree in social work, psychology or a human services related area of study.

- Good problem-solving skills
- Meet requirements of licensing standards in regard to criminal background check.
- Be physically, mentally and emotionally capable of performing the assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
At least one year of work experience with children and families or three years of work experience in any field along with relevant lived experience in the community we are serving.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit on the floor, bend and be at ground level with children.
