SUMMARY

Under the direction of the manager of finance and accounting the accounting specialist performs a variety of administrative and detail-oriented tasks related to the accounting functions of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Review and process employee expenses to meet reimbursement requirements
  • Maintain client records and billing rates in accounting software
  • Create, review and distribute client invoices
  • Record accounts receivable and process deposits
  • Distribute past due invoices to clients and document client contact updates
  • Research billing discrepancies and respond to client inquiries
  • Record accounts payable and process payments
  • Reconcile corporate purchase card activity
  • Review payroll for completeness and accuracy
  • Record general ledger journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Participate in ongoing education to remain current in areas of accounting
  • Perform administrative and other tasks as assigned
  • Enter time and expenses accurately and timely
  • Handle and process confidential information with complete discretion
  • File projects and materials according to internal records retention guidelines
  • Regular, predictable and punctual attendance

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and NetSuite or other integrated accounting software
  • Ability to work independently

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three years of experience in an accounting support staff role

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus. The salary for this position is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education and skills.
