                  Camp Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY

This SJCC is looking for a responsible and friendly person to clean and maintain the summer campgrounds. This individual will assure the smooth and efficient operation of the SJCC Summer Camps as to provide campers and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean place to attend camp. This position is under direct supervision of the Associate Camp Director.

CAMP RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties

  • Daily survey of entire campgrounds for debris, hazards, litter or other inappropriate items.
  • Trash collection and maintenance. The JCC has an abundance of trashcans scattered around our 25 acres that need to be emptied and maintained every day.
  • This position is critical for daily lunch program. Each day this individual will collect all the campers’ lunch bins, move to interior storage, and then deliver to correct lunch locations around campus. After lunch, each lunch area will need to be cleaned and empty lunch bins collected.
  • Interior bathrooms including lobby and children’s wing are routinely checked over for the following tasks- empty trash, wipe toilets and sink, replace soap and towels when necessary
  • Outdoor Pool locker rooms are routinely checked for lost and found items, as well as tasks empty trash, wipe toilets and sink, replace soap and towels when necessary
  • Make sure hallways and doors are kept free of debris
  • Wear a walkie talkie so staff can contact you in case of emergency or other maintenance needs
  • Manage camp lost and found – all collected and brought to central location at the end of the day
  • Help set up tables and chairs for special events
  • This individual will work closely with the JCC Year round maintenance department and possibly assist with organization wide tasks as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or delegated by the Associate Camp Director, Unit Heads, or Senior Director of Camp and Summer Programs

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Experience working with children is a plus
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods time
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Perform routine, repetitive task on a continuous basis, enjoy cleanliness and order
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., good physical condition
  • Be of good moral character (honest and trustworthy)
