*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day. Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

Summary of this position:
|
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning programs for Football and Stunt, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching fitness and movement skills. The Strength and Conditioning Coach devises training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervises training sessions, evaluates student athletes, maintains student athlete records, and teaches strength and conditioning classes as needed.

Education required to ensure success in this position:
- A bachelor’s degree (B.A.B.S) from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- 2+ years of related experience in athletics and/or strength and conditioning training.
Special skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of written, oral, and diagram instructions.
- Ability to read and analyze business documents, periodicals, operating manuals, and safety rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to write routine reports and other correspondence.
- Must be able to speak effectively in front of groups, managers, and employees.
- Able to perform basic mathematics.
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), US Weightlifting level one, and ACSM or equivalent.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to perform actions such as handling tools and objects, kneeling, crouching, walking, and standing.
Environmental conditions:
- The noise level is moderate.

- Evaluates current physical conditions of student athletes.
- Knowledge of the physical requirements for various sports programs at Maryville College.
- Develops specific sports exercise and tailored strength programs.
- Directs pre-training sessions and pre-contest preparations and warm-ups.
- Schedules usages of the weight room with 6-8 open hours a day to work with all student athletes at Maryville College.
- Reports any concerns of compromises or any rule violations.
- Works with qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers during all training sessions and contests.
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.
