Position: HRIS Associate  

Who we are:  The Police Athletic League (PAL) of New York City is an independent youth development nonprofit organization and has been a vibrant and vital institution, serving as an effective, critical bridge between police and communities across all five boroughs of the City since 1914. PAL operates diverse programs for children as young as 2 years old to young adults. Programs include Head Start, after-school programs and summer day camps for elementary, middle and high school youth, and summer Playstreets. PAL also runs evening teen centers and college readiness programs, youth employment, and juvenile justice programs. Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Operations and Reporting Analyst plays a crucial role in processing, managing and reporting on HR employee related data along with enhancing and optimizing the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and other HR related systems. This role will drive implementation and maintenance of HRIS platform(s), ensuring data accuracy, system functionality, and security. The HR Operations and Reporting Analyst will be responsible for producing timely and accurate audit reports and proactively capturing and escalating issues. In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting key operational HR functions including supporting payroll and processing staffing updates within the system.  

What you’ll do:  

Human Resource Information System Management 

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the PAL’s HRIS (Paycom), including system configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 

  • Manage user access, permissions, and security settings within the HRIS. 

  • Ensure data integrity by conducting regular audits and managing system updates. 

  • Liaise with the HR vendor to address any bug-fixes, enhancements, advance reporting requests in the HRIS. 

  • Ensure the Applicant Tracking System component of HRIS is up-to-date and outdated requisitions are retired.  

  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and leverage the HRIS to improve efficiency. 

 

Employee Data Processing and Management: 

  • Responsibility for timely and efficient collection, verification, processing and management of employee data throughout the employee life-cycle into the HRIS working closely with HR team colleagues to implement data quality control measures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance. 

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting audits on employee records processed for completeness and accuracy and proactively capturing issues and escalating issues.  

  • Support critical daily functioning of HR to process personnel tasks including employee transfers, compensation changes, leave status and separation letters and offboarding. 

  • Payroll Reconciliation: Support payroll administrator to ensure that all payroll data is accurate and reconciled properly. 

Reporting and Analytics: 

  • Ensure the HRIS system has accurate data for reporting requests 

  • Produce all reporting requests from the HR system including but not limited to grant or funder requests, insurance requests, reporting to monitor compliance for standard HR metrics (timekeeping, vacation utilization, employee completion of mandatory trainings, performance evaluation completion, etc.). 

  • Responsible for providing any and all auditing reports including financial audits, pension, and government funded audits for compliance.  

  • Develop and generate regular and ad-hoc reports to support HR decision-making and strategy. 

Other HR Operations and Administrative Tasks 

  • Provide technical training, support and troubleshooting assistant to HRIS users. 

  • Support other critical administrative HR functions as requested by the Director of Human Resources.  

  • Promote open communication and a culture of feedback within the organization. 

 

Qualifications

Who you are/What you bring:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field;  

  • 3+ years of experience in HRIS administration or a related role 

  • Proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., Paycom preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Data Management and reporting. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively. 

  • Experience with System Administration and up-dates and management 

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Advanced experience with excel, report writing, and data analysis tools is a plus 

Compensation: The range for this role is $33/hr - $36/hr; where the finalist falls in this range will be commensurate with skills and experience.  
 

Work Hours: 35 hours per week. through January 2025
