Description

Under the direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the company’s financial records and ensures that accounting records are in accordance with GAAP. Key responsibilities include month end accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations, with an emphasized focus on inventory accounting and supporting accounts payable. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare support and post period-end journal entries

  • Assist with Accounts Payable functions, including organizing check runs and responding to vendor inquiries

  • Prepare and review AP aging reports and assist with cash disbursement projections

  • Reconcile company credit card statements

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory reporting

  • Reconcile subledgers to the general ledger

  • Analyze general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy

  • Assist with coordinating and preparing support for audits by outside auditors and agencies

  • Assist in the analysis and implementation of internal controls

  • Additional requests as assigned by management

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or 3+ years of previous accounting experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables)

  • High attention to detail

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions

  • Ability to analyze and interpret various types of data to draw conclusions and solve problems

  • Proven initiative for working independently

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines under minimal supervision

 

Nice to Have - Bonus Points!

  • Experience with Looker, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or SAP Concur

  • Retail or e-commerce accounting experience
