Position Summary
This position performs a variety of paralegal and legal administrative duties for assigned attorneys as outlined below. The position is expected to have a high degree of responsibility for case and project management. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment is key.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as point of contact for outside counsel, franchisees, and insurance company on legal matters.
- Organize and maintain litigation files.
- Assist with subpoena and records request responses.
- Assist attorney with responding to agency charges, including drafting and filing position statements under supervision.
- Coordinate with other departments as needed for file or matter management.
- Clerical and administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist with Legal Department telephone and e-mail queue as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Certification or degree in paralegal studies preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of related job experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understand legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and document management systems and ability to edit and proofread correspondence and legal documents.
- Case management software experience a plus.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and good work ethic are essential.
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment working within time constraints.
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary to light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
- Subject to normal office noise levels.
- Position is located at Express Employment International Headquarters in Oklahoma City, currently with a hybrid schedule. (4 days in office, 1 remote)
