Description

Oneida Health Cancer Care, a Roswell Park Care Network member, is looking for an experienced full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team at our outpatient William G. Griffin Medical Oncology Center in Oneida. The center includes 12 exam rooms and a 12-chair infusion floor led by our experienced team comprised of one board-certified physician and two Nurse Practitioners. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can “hit the ground running” as this practice is positioned for growth. The role is Monday-Friday (40 hours), with consult-only call responsibilities for two weeks every eight weeks. Additional compensation is provided when on call. The average number of patients per day is eight to eleven. 

 

Compensation: $110,000 to $140,000 per year based on experience

What You’ll be Great At:

  • Assessing and establishing a presumptive diagnosis and implementing treatment plans
  • Making accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record (OncoEMR)
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate and prescribing appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidence-based practice
  • Prescribing, adjusting, or discontinuing medications or therapies as appropriate
  • Evaluating and reporting to the physician any circumstances or test results that present a significant risk to the patient's health or well-being
  • Performing procedures within the scope of practice of the Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Communicating appropriate information to physicians, patients, PCP, and referring staff
  • Instilling confidence in patients acting as their advocate by providing safe, ethical care and health education to the patient and family

Qualifications

Your Essential Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Masters of Science in Nursing 
  • License:
    • NY Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority 
  • Experience
    • A minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting (ICU/IM/ED/Hospitalist) or two years of nurse practitioner experience is preferred (Oncology experience preferred)
  • Certification
    • Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioners (AOCNP) are preferred.
