Due to an urgent hiring need, we are offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus for this position—$2,500 paid at the time of hire and an additional $2,500 paid after six (6) months of continuous employment.
Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are hiring a motivated occupational therapist who will be responsible for developing and implementing an adjunctive therapy program for one of the CONREP locations. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing clients, developing treatment goals, and implementing those goals.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
- Functions under the direct supervision of the Program Director
- Delivers programming for the Socialization Improvement Program (SIP)
- Completes the assessment process within 72 hours of admission by using structured test, observation, and/or interview.
- Identifies client strengths and problem areas based upon evaluation findings.
- Documents evaluation findings and develops a plan of care which is measurable and attainable.
- Reports ongoing client progress in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborates with colleagues.
- Coordinates with the treatment team on client’s goals.
- Reviews and revises the treatment plan based upon the client’s needs, responses, and progress.
- Documents ongoing treatment progress in a timely manner and in accordance with contractual guidelines.
- Supervises occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students and volunteers.
- Supervises occupational therapy fieldwork students
- Completes the assessment and documentation of student performance at specified intervals.
- Assists in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Assists in ordering Occupational Therapy supplies and equipment.
- Manages departmental petty cash with accuracy and timeliness.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to plan and lead Occupational Therapy groups.
- Excellent language and communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and work independently when circumstances warrant
