What We Do: You will be part of a new, exciting contract with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) to establish and run the Behavioral Health and Wellness Program (BHWP). The BIE BHWP provides culturally relevant, evidence-based, and trauma-informed behavioral health and wellness services for school staff, students, and families at all Bureau-funded institutions, including Bureau-operated schools, Tribally Controlled Schools, post-secondary institutions, and Tribal colleges and universities. 

What You’ll Do: As an Outreach Material Specialist, you have an opportunity to address the most pressing health and wellness needs in Native American communities. You will help to order, ship and track branded materials and communication products (outreach materials) to encourage behavioral wellness habits and promote clinical services. Examples of work products include but are not limited to posters, flyers, pens, stickers, and fidget toys. You will work alongside the communications team, senior leadership, BIE, Tribal leaders, and educators to create a lasting impact on the mental health and wellness of Native American students.

Location: Alexandria, VA

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all outreach materials are organized in the storage unit.
  • Track all outreach materials in an organized digital inventory.
  • Update inventory tracking system and order materials when stock gets low.
  • Track all outreach materials requests to ensure they are delivered promptly.
  • Work with the requestor to gather all the necessary details for shipment.
  • Retrieve items for shipment.
  • Verify the items in each order and package them for shipment.
  • Generate shipping labels and packing slips.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop outreach materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Physical ability to pull, pack and lift heavy packages throughout their shift.
  • Must work independently and remain organized to ensure packages are appropriately tracked.
  • Effective listening and communication skills across multiple teams and mediums.
  • Proven ability to form positive and effective relationships for results.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to a blooming work environment and evolving responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively as a part of a team.
  • Must be able to favorably complete a background investigation.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous customer service or relationship management experience.
  • Experience in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and shipping software systems.
  • Previous work in Native American and Alaska Native communities highly desired.
