MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in (Outdoor Education, Experiential Education, Outdoor Leadership, Recreation, Youth Ministry, Psychology, Counseling, or related field) or a combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Youth Group Leadership experience (3 to 6 months)
- Ability to certify as a BHA I within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License, with satisfactory driving history to qualify for company insurance.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within ninety (90) days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in (Outdoor Education, Experiential Education, Outdoor Leadership, Recreation, Youth Ministry, Psychology, Counseling, or related field)
- Certified Educator in some related capacity
- Wilderness First Responder/Wilderness EMT, or above.
- Remote leadership/rescue certifications, such as: Swift water Rescue Technician, Whitewater Rescue Technician, Bear Guard, Search & Rescue Technician, etc.

- Knowledge and appreciation of Alaska Native culture and lifestyle
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently while creating a warm welcome atmosphere in a particular program area.
- Strong risk management practices and awareness, particularly in risk mitigation.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle to transport youth and staff.
- Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Skills in operating a personal computer using a variety of computer software.
- Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations and organization matters.
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
- Knowledge of local outdoor activities and opportunities.
- Ability to safely manage and lead groups on trail experiences in a timely, organized manner during all seasons and weather conditions.

The work requires personal fitness to assist others, including lifting and carrying up to 200 lbs. (with assistance), during emergency situations, leading wilderness and sports activities, inspiring youth through doing (rather than discussing), leading remote work crews, and participating fully in all areas of health, fitness, and wellness programs. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing as much as 100 lbs. The majority of work is performed in an office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus. It may require local travel between compact services of CRNA, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where the protection of client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided when and where needed.
SPECIFICATIONS
Supervision Received:
Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General guidelines for operations are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and the general policies and procedures of CRNA.
Supervision Exercised:
The position will not provide direct supervision.
Contacts:
Contacts include and not limited to volunteers, organizational staff, clients, and outside agencies.

- CRNA is a no tolerance workplace. All employees must pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment.
- CRNA has several positions that require a criminal background check for the safety of our clients. All employment offers in the "covered" classification are conditional until CRNA has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
- First Aid/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire for required positions.
- As applicable by position and company policy, must meet standards for fitness for duty, immunizations, credentialing and privileging.
