Job Purpose:
- To provide high-quality mathematics instruction to middle school students at HOWARD UNIVERSITY PUBLIC CHARTER MIDDLE SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICs, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject while promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and relevant academic standards for middle school mathematics.
- Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and a growth mindset towards learning mathematics.
- Employ a variety of teaching methods and strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, tests, projects, and presentations. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance, progress, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including other math teachers, special education staff, and administrators, to enhance the overall mathematics program and student learning experience.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education and improve teaching skills.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and behavioral data.
- Uphold the school's mission, vision, and values, contributing to a positive and productive school community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.

Qualifications

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field (e.g., Mathematics Education, Statistics, Applied Mathematics)
- Valid teaching certification in Mathematics for the appropriate grade level (Middle School)

Required Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching mathematics at the middle school level.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing engaging and effective mathematics lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and differentiating instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Experience using technology to enhance mathematics instruction and assessment.
- Experience collaborating with colleagues and parents to support student learning.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of middle school mathematics concepts and principles.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Proficiency in using a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods.
