The Civil Construction Intern will participate in a rotational program designed to provide hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of civil construction projects. Interns will begin with fieldwork under the guidance of a Superintendent, transition to project management tasks with a Project Manager Assistant, and conclude with estimating and planning alongside an Estimator. This structured rotation ensures exposure to key aspects of construction operations, offering practical knowledge and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Rotation Overview:
   - Superintendent Rotation: Start in the field to gain firsthand knowledge of construction site operations, safety practices, and project execution. Observe and assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily site activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
   - Assistant Project Manager Rotation: Transition to the office environment to learn project planning, scheduling, and coordination. Work closely with the Project Manager Assistant to support project documentation, change orders, and communication efforts.
   - Estimator Rotation: Conclude with the Estimator to develop an understanding of project planning from the ground up. Assist in preparing takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid documents, building a strong foundation in pre-construction processes.

2. Hands-On Assistance:
   - Support tracking project progress and maintaining daily logs during the Superintendent rotation.
   - Prepare and organize project documents such as schedules, change orders, and RFIs during the Project Manager Assistant rotation.
   - Participate in data collection, quantity takeoffs, and research for project bids during the Estimator rotation.

3. Collaboration and Communication:
   - Actively engage in team meetings, safety briefings, and site inspections to understand project dynamics.
   - Communicate effectively with team members to support the smooth execution of tasks and responsibilities across rotations.

4. Professional Development:
   - Gain exposure to construction management tools, software, and processes commonly used in the industry.
   - Build foundational skills in field supervision, project coordination, and estimation.
   - Receive mentorship from experienced professionals in civil construction.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Education: Enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Skills:
  - Strong organizational and communication abilities.
  - Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  - Interest in learning construction software and tools (e.g., scheduling and estimating programs).
- Attributes:
  - Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
  - Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  - Ability to adapt to various roles and environments within the construction industry.

Work Environment

- This role involves a combination of office and field work. Interns may be required to visit active construction sites and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Physical requirements may include walking, standing, and navigating uneven terrain.
