House Parents are caregivers and role models who work in a traditional family setting and are the front-line individuals of our organization. It is preferred that the House Parents live on campus, but this is not always required. House Parents have the general responsibility of supervising and meeting the daily needs of the children in their cottage and therefore have a vested interest in every aspect of each childs life.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary House Parents work in conjunction with Relief House Parents to care for and nurture up to ten children in a cottage.
- Responsibilities include meeting the material, physical, spiritual, emotional and disciplinary needs of the children.
- Prepares meals.
- Administers and documents medications dispensed.
- Provides transportation for residents in Youth Homes vehicles.
- Completes all required documentation and reports.
- Observes guidelines outlined in the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes Policy and Procedure manual.
- Reports childrens illnesses and accidents to Social Services Coordinator and Resident Director.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the assigned cottage and surrounding area. Reports maintenance needs promptly and is responsible for the security of the cottage.
- Assure that children are appropriately dressed and observe children for deficiencies in personal hygiene, addressing deficiencies.
- Reports childrens school discipline and academic performance problems to Social Service Coordinator/Resident Director.
- Maintains an open line of communication with each child.
- Purchases clothes, school supplies and personal items for children.
- Perform any other duties directly or indirectly related to the child care operation and management as assigned by the Resident Director.
