Description

This individual’s primary role is to be responsible for the safety and security of all people in and around the pool. 

Expectations:

  1. Supervise all swimming activities.
  2. Maintain safety of all people in and around the pool area.
  3. Remain alert and use all senses while guarding.  NO Cell phone use allowed.
  4. Perform first aid and emergency care treatment when required.
  5. Handle discipline situations with courtesy.
  6. Complete all necessary injury reports.
  7. Notify Director immediately of significant weather changes during pool time.
  8. Memorize all emergency procedures.

Mental Demands:

Must be capable of assessing and communicating information to.  Able to remain alert and focused in a loud outdoor setting.  Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Physical Demands:

Physical demands include the requirements of bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, writing, squatting, driving, sitting/standing (particularly for long periods of time), hearing, holding/grasping, turning or otherwise working with your hands and seeing. Also must be able to be outside for long periods of time.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age with no criminal history.  Possess a current Lifeguard and/or Waterfront Skills Certification.
