SUMMARY OF POSITION

As the Director of Research and Technology, you will lead the development and execution of data-driven strategies that elevate Visit Myrtle Beach’s destination marketing initiatives. Leveraging advanced technology and analytics, you will oversee comprehensive data gathering, market research, and insight generation to drive impactful marketing decisions. Working closely with the CVB marketing team and external partners, you will guide data-informed strategies that create exceptional customer experience and support organizational growth.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Data Analysis and Insights
    • Utilize advanced data analytics tools and methodologies to derive actionable insights from marketing performance and customer behavior.
    • Evaluate campaign effectiveness through analysis of key marketing metrics, delivering clear, strategic recommendations.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards that effectively visualize marketing performance and support decision-making for key stakeholders.
    • Lead research projects from concept to completion, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform strategic marketing decisions.
  • Marketing Technology Strategy
    • Develop and execute a marketing technology strategy that aligns with Visit Myrtle Beach’s goals and priorities.
    • Continuously evaluate new technology trends and innovations, assessing their relevance and potential benefits.
    • Identify opportunities for technology adoption to improve marketing effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Marketing Technology Infrastructure
    • Oversee and optimize the marketing technology stack, including CMS, CDP, CRM, analytics, and other tools integral to digital marketing operations.
    • Ensure seamless integration and interoperability of marketing technology platforms to maximize functionality and data flow across systems.
    • Lead the evaluation and integration of AI solutions across marketing operations to drive efficiency and insight.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather requirements, develop strategies, and implement technology solutions that best meet marketing needs.
  • Digital Marketing Optimization
    • Enhance digital marketing campaigns through A/B testing, personalization, audience segmentation, and other data-driven tactics.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop and execute strategies that increase engagement, conversions, and customer loyalty.
    • Continuously monitor and optimize website performance, SEO, and user experience to meet audience expectations.
  • Training and Support
    • Provide training and support on marketing technology platforms for CVB staff, ensuring teams are proficient in using tools effectively.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for CVB teams, offering guidance and best practices for technology in marketing.
    • Stay informed of emerging marketing technology trends and conduct training sessions to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Other Duties
    • Support additional duties as assigned by the Chief Marketing Officer and VP, Brand and Communications, contributing to organizational priorities and projects.

 

Qualifications

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

  • Advanced Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of marketing technology platforms, including CMS, CRM, CDPs, analytics, marketing automation, and SEO tools.
  • Analytical Expertise & Innovation: Skilled in using advanced analytics and emerging technologies, such as AI, to develop actionable data insights.
  • Proficiency in Analytical Tools: Competent in data visualization tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Project Leadership: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously. Skilled in prioritizing tasks to achieve both short-term deliverables and long-term brand goals.
  • Communication: Skilled in presenting complex data and insights in a clear, compelling manner that drives understanding and informed decision-making across the organization.
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree with an accredited college university in a related field and experience preferred; minimum of six years’ experience in marketing research or marketing technology management, or related field.
  • Reliability and Professionalism: Dependable in attendance and completing tasks thoroughly and on schedule, with focus on conscientious, accurate work.  
  • Collaborative Skills: Effective in building professional relationships and working constructively with colleagues and partners, both within and outside the Chamber.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.  The role routinely uses standard office equipment and associated software including computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
