Description

The Outreach and Project Manager–Indigenous and Rural Communities provides leadership, management, and outreach in the development of new services and cross-functional support with a focus on historically marginalized and Indigenous communities. They will work collaboratively to advance equitable climate solutions that benefit everyone, primarily through programming and individual projects that deliver holistic, operational clean energy solutions, including but not limited to considerations for comprehensive clean energy and decarbonization planning and implementation, distributed energy resources and management, carbon storage and sequestration, economic diversification and workforce development, food sovereignty, air quality, water quality, land preservation, and human health. The Outreach and Project Manager–Indigenous and Rural Communities will accomplish this in part by building key partnerships with Native Nations and rural communities as well as leaders in private industry and local, state, and federal governments.

 

The Outreach and Project Manager–Indigenous and Rural Communities develops and manages internal and external engineering, research, education, or program implementation projects. The Outreach and Project Manager–Indigenous and Rural Communities manages multidimensional projects and is involved in regional and national work groups in their area of expertise, but with a specific focus of working with historically marginalized and Indigenous communities.

Qualifications

Primary and Essential Responsibilities

1. Project Oversight, Management, and Delivery

a. Responsible for all aspects of a project from inception to delivery of the final product

b. Prepare timeline, milestones and ensure adherence to project schedules

c. Perform technical and administrative tasks associated with project delivery

d. Lead value proposition of services through industry expertise around energy, equity, climate resiliency, sustainability, environmental justice, or other key strategy areas related to Slipstream’s mission.

e. Coordinate and share resources and expertise across organization

2. New Services Development to deliver Mission Impact

a. Play a key role in creating annual service offerings, developing strategies, and delivering mission impact.  

b. Develop and maintain relationships with decision-makers who can become potential partners

c. Develop and maintain industry visibility for the team and Slipstream

d. Assist proposal development process for the service offerings; assist with quality assurance for proposals related to scope and budget

e. Collaborate with other Slipstream teams across the organization to drive innovation and develop new solutions

3. Leadership

a. Demonstrate leadership internally and externally with respect to project management, expertise, and efficient use of staff and financial resources

b. Mentor staff as subject matter expert to build individual, team, and organizational capabilities and reputation

c. Utilize cross-team sharing of resources to accomplish objectives

d. Work collaboratively as a member of the project team

e. Assist building teams around service offerings leveraging internal talent and enthusiasm

f.  Actively participate in designated Slipstream workgroups

4. These responsibilities are not all inclusive and other duties may be assigned from time-to-time

 

Competencies

  • Fundamental knowledge of equity issues facing disadvantaged communities
  • Fundamental knowledge of climate change issues facing communities
  • Fundamental knowledge of supply and demand energy systems and related issues
  • Plan & organize work to manage multiple projects simultaneously for self & staff to meet deadlines
  • Able to provide direction to guide unit objectives
  • Budget and contract management
  • Ability to lead and manage cross functional, diverse teams of professionals with proficiency at partner relations
  • Extensive program/project management
  • Possess effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently, perform under pressure, set priorities
  • Demonstrate skill in oral and written communication; public speaking experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of project management experience
  • Three years of experience working in the energy, sustainability, or related industry
  • Proficiently using Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications (minimum qualifications plus the following).

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and infuse Tribal identity, culture and priorities into projects.
  • Three years of experience working in the energy industry
  • Proficiency working with Native Nations or disadvantage communities
  • Ability to successfully work with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders on the same project
