Job Title: Outdoor Pool Maintenance

Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt

Division: Park and Recreation Services

Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center – Outdoor Pool

Reports To: HVAC and Aquatics Foreman

Supervisory Responsibility: None

   Position Summary                                                                                                                          

Outdoor Pool Maintenance will be responsible for the overall daily activities where routine and repetitive maintenance functions are performed. This is a semi-skilled/manual labor position. Hours are 7:00 – 11:00 am as scheduled Sunday through Saturday.

 

Essential Job Duties                                                                                                                                       

  • Ensure pools, water features, decks, concessions areas, walks, stairways, slides, pump house and all outdoor maintenance areas are clean and safe.
  • Assist Aquatics Mechanical Specialist with season opening/closing tasks.
  • Become familiar with methods, materials, tools and equipment used in facility and pool maintenance work.
  • Present positive image and attitude to public and staff and willingness to assist as needed.
  • Move materials and supplies within the facility as directed.
  • Ability to learn through on the job training.
  • Function independently of constant supervision.
  • Follow directions.
  • Organize time on the job to achieve duties assigned.
  • Complete special projects once daily tasks are completed.
  • Perform minor maintenance repairs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Requirements                                                                                                                      

High School graduate preferred. Prefer 3 months of aquatics maintenance activities including experience with robotic/hand vacuuming, power washing pool decks, water testing, general janitorial skills and basic knowledge of all related equipment and tools. Should be in good physical condition and have sufficient strength to do minimal amount of lifting. Demonstrate initiative, dependability, punctuality, and ability to complete assigned tasks independently and in a positive manner with general public, WPD staff and WPD Board of Commissioners present.

   Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.

  • Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities are required and include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions                                                                                                                                      

  • Most activities will be performed indoors.
  • Driving to other park facilities will require the worker to be outside.
  • Employee may be exposed to cleaning agents and toner chemicals.
