Job Title: Camp Counselor
Job Status: Part Time – Non-Exempt

Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center
Reports To: Recreation Services Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Essential Job Duties
- Inputs and maintains employee information in the computer system (payroll and Time and Attendance systems). Maintains pay rates, leave, tax allowances, and deductions.
- Plans and implements a variety of recreational activities for specific age group daily.
- Understand principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation.
- Demonstrate ability to supervise children in recreational setting.
- Learn and implement necessary policies or procedures of camp.
- Communicate regularly with the camp leader regarding the camp operation and incidents.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Notify Camp Leader of camp supply needs.
- Keeps first aid supplies with them at all times.
- Maintain control of the group using positive discipline techniques.
- Complete all accident/incident forms correctly and notify Camp Leader.
- Stay with camp until all campers are released to parent or to after camp program.
- Accurately record attendance/dismissals.
- Cooperate with other staff in a positive manner.
- Provide a safe, engaging, and fun environment for all children and staff.
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
- Work as scheduled.
- Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.
- Coordinate assistance as needed from the Camp Leader and Camp Coordinator.
- Coordinate assistance as needed from Building Attendants and Guest Services.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
