Description

The Data Coordinator is responsible for Student Information System (SIS), CALPADS and attendance related tasks, including creating reports and maintaining student data for Charter Impact clients. The position will collaborate with clients to ensure accurate gathering and reporting of attendance and school data in support of state reporting requirements. This position will report to the Director of Data and Technology. This position is highly visible to Charter Impact clients and therefore, an upbeat personality and customer-service oriented sense of professionalism is a must.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide student information and attendance related technical support to clients
  • Train clients staff member on effectively leveraging their SIS in support of state reporting requirements
  • Integrate 3rd party student and instructional data systems with the SIS
  • Troubleshoot problems related to new and/or existing systems
  • Assist in codifying procedures and system configuration settings
  • Streamline current processes and systems and evaluate more efficient solutions
  • Expand automation of systems to improve overall system stability, improve data collection/linkages across multiple data systems
  • Data validation of attendance and state reporting information
  • Support with gathering data and submitting attendance and state reporting records
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Generally, any combination of education that would provide the required knowledge and skills for successful performance would qualify. A typical method of demonstrating these requirements would be:

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of data management work experience with data reconciliation, quality control, and field mapping experience with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems (PowerSchool, Aeries, etc.), attendance administration and CALPADS
  • Knowledge of Java Script, Java, and SQL programming a plus
  • Familiar with system analysis and process improvement practices
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills, with advanced knowledge of Excel a plus.
  • Proper and effective use of English grammar and communication skills (oral and written)

Candidates must also have the ability to:

  • Learn the appropriate rules, regulations and technical procedures specifically related to processing educational data for non-profit organizations and charter schools

  • Perform arithmetic calculations accurately and rapidly
  • Identify and correct errors in mathematical computations and financial documents

Experience with the following is a plus:

  • Abila Non-Profit Accounting (formerly Sage MIP)
  • Any third-party database experience.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (with or without accommodation as needed to perform essential job functions)

  • Read numbers, reports, and documents on computer terminals
  • Use telephone and other communication devices
  • Lift up to 20 pounds (Light)
  • Prolonged standing, some bending, stooping and stretching

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work indoors in a standard office environment
  • Occasionally work outside of normal workdays and office hours to meet deadlines
  • Travel may be required for professional development events and to client locations
  • May be required to directly communicate and interact with clients, parents, students and the public
