Job Summary:

The feed truck driver will transport, weigh and deliver finished feed daily to cattle.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
  • Transports loads safely and on time within the feedlot, following all yard policies and observing all safety regulations.
  • Precisely maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
  • Assists with loading and unloading goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; returns all equipment to designated area.
  • Maintains daily logs through an Electronic Log Book, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to the transportation office or other appropriate staff when the circulation route is complete.
  • Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, fuel, and air; fills out maintenance request forms and reports maintenance malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Arranges trailers in the yard for optimum loading.
  • Keeps cabin clean and free of litter; washes and fuels truck at the end of his/her shift.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with staff at delivery points. 
  • Ability to remain focused in a busy environment.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities:

  • Candidates should have experience driving and operating a feed truck; front-end loader experience is a plus.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work any shift on any day of the week.
  • Must multi-task and work under pressure while paying close attention to detail and safety to self and employees.
  • Valid driver’s license to travel between feed yards.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting in a vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times.
