What will you do?
The Contracts Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire contract lifecycle, from negotiation and drafting to execution and closeout. This role involves working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that the organization's interests are protected. The Contracts Manager will manage a team, ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies, and mitigate risks associated with contracts.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and execution of contracts, including but not limited to service agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with contracts, ensuring that all agreements comply with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments (e.g., legal, finance, procurement, and operations) and external partners to ensure that contract terms are understood and adhered to by all parties.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with external partners and vendors to achieve favorable terms for the organization, balancing risk and reward.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all contracts comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including data protection and privacy requirements.
  • Contract Administration: Manage the administration of contracts, including tracking key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, and ensuring that all contractual obligations are met.
  • Dispute Resolution: Address and resolve any disputes or issues that arise during the contract lifecycle, working with legal counsel as necessary.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on contract status, compliance issues, and other relevant metrics for senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement best practices for contract management processes and systems, including the use of contract management software.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of contract administrators or specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure the team’s success.

 

Where will you work?
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.   

What do you offer?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Contract Management, or a related field. A Juris Doctor (JD) or Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, legal, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or similar credentials are highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in the industry relevant to the organization’s operations (e.g., technology, government contracting, healthcare, etc.) is a plus.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of contract law and the legal implications of contract terms and conditions.
  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, particularly in reviewing and drafting complex contracts.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain contract terms clearly and concisely.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze contract terms and conditions to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to addressing contract-related challenges.
  • Team Leadership: Proven leadership and management skills, with experience leading a team of contract professionals.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with contract management software and tools, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.  
  • Ability to work under stress, interruptions, and tight deadlines.  
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard. 
  • Must be able to move from building to building, with limited travel.  
  • Light physical work may be required. 
  • Travel may be required. 

     

 

What IALR Offers
