About ATDM
 ATDM is a federally funded program training adults in the skills needed to complete the skills gap in submarine building and repair. Those skills include Additive Manufacturing, Welding, CNC Machining, Quality Control Inspection, and Nondestructive Testing.

 

What will you do?
The ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) Technical Program Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and continuous improvement of the ATDM program. This role involves extensive coordination with staff, industry partners, and various stakeholders to achieve the program's objectives. The Technical Program Manager will manage curriculum development, oversee the alignment of industry certifications with program outcomes, and support professional development activities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Training and Industry Engagement: Collaborates with ATDM staff to ensure effective training and assists in building industry relationships. Acts as a technical liaison between industry partners and training teams.
  • Program Alignment and Improvement: Ensures program outcomes align with industry certifications. Manages continuous improvement initiatives, including project management, changes to the Learning Management System (LMS), and student data systems.
  • Goal Management: Tracks and manages program goals and objectives, ensuring they are met.
  • Budget Management: Oversees program budgets and consumable requirements, managing expenditures and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Curriculum Development: Provides support and oversight for curriculum development at ATDM Danville, ensuring it meets program standards.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Ensures the timely collection of data from participating partners and reports results to key stakeholders and the strategic advisory council.
  • Strategic Relationships: Develops and maintains strategic industry relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Professional Development: Facilitates professional development activities related to the ATDM initiative.
  • Skills Implementation: Manages the implementation of skills requirements and supports skills competitions.
  • Coordination with Contractors: Coordinates and manages activities with contractors related to the ATDM program.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Manages the adherence to equipment preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge Maintenance: Keeps current knowledge in all ATDM program areas, including Additive Manufacturing, CNC Machining, Metrology/Quality Control, Nondestructive Testing, and Welding.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Education and Experience:
    • Educational Background: Relevant education supporting program areas such as CNC Machining, Metrology/Quality Control, Additive Manufacturing, Welding, and Non-destructive Testing.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM and parametric modeling.
    • Industry Experience: Preferably with industrial experience or in collaborating with industrial partners within an educational setting.
    • LMS Experience: Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is required.
    • Financial Management: Experience with grant management or fiscal oversight is required.
    • Equipment Management: Experience in managing capital equipment purchases and installation within an advanced manufacturing environment is desirable.
    • Facility Management: Experience managing the upfit or construction of a manufacturing facility is advantageous.

 

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to move freely between facilities.
    • Must be able to operate and manipulate a keyboard.
    • Light physical work may be required.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Why is the position open? 
Due to the growth of our campus and the success in our many programs, we’re adding more Instructors and Technicians to our team. To the success of our Manufacturing Advancement team in executing the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Program in partnership with the Department of the Navy, this is a new position that is funded by a federal contract. IALR will continue to request funding for the foreseeable future.
