General Schedule:
This position 
can work up to 20 hours a week with a final working day on or around June 30, 2025. This position will not work when the University is closed for holidays.

Position Overview:
This position will gain experience by supporting both continual and ad-hoc projects throughout Talent Acquisition and Engagement areas of human resource competency. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in developing and executing internal communication strategies while supporting a variety of human resource projects. Your role will support and execute communication strategies to enhance internal engagement and collaboration, assist with projects related to recruiting and engaging faculty and staff, and support HR processes while partnering with leaders across campus to support our faculty, staff, and student employees so they can focus on the work they do to serve our community and students.

Will have strong visibility, displaying excellence, integrity, reliability, and innovation as they solve problems, execute tasks with excellence, support employee advocacy, and encourage fresh ideas that retain UCOs reputation as an employer-of-choice.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

In this role, you can expect to learn how to:

  • Promote and advertise the institution to attract a diverse pool of candidates through a variety of projects, campaigns, and mediums.
  • Create and edit content for internal newsletters, announcements, and other employee communications.
  • Update and manage content on the company intranet and other internal platforms.
  • Engage with employment law, reviewing university policy and procedure as appropriate.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.

College/Department Overview:

Works inside of the Human Resources Department, which is part of the larger People & Culture division. Human Resources is comprised of two key areas (Talent Management; HR Operations & Technology) that work together to empower UCO employees to bring their best selves to work every day.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Talent Acquisition and Engagement.

Experience Required:

Open to both recent graduates and current students working towards an associate, undergraduate, or graduate degree.

Experience Preferred:

Significant preference will be given to recent grads or students seeking a degree in HR, Business, Public Administration, Talent Development, Strategic Communication, or Organizational Leadership. Strong preference will be given to UCO students and/or alumni. Strong grammar and communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of internal communication strategy and/or HR processes is a plus. Experience with WordPress, SharePoint, Canva, and/or Illustrator is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Clear familiarity with HR / people & culture concepts.

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Speaking/Writing - Ability to effectively express ideas, instructions, and concepts; Ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Excellent interpersonal relationship and customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff/faculty, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Judgment and Decision Making - Practices critical thinking. Balances logic with compassion through the lenses of consistency and sustainability. Ability to understand relevant university policy and procedure.

Social Perceptiveness - Demonstrates good human relations skills to establish and foster good relationships throughout the entire university community. Must consistently display servant leadership. Practices active listening.

Fast Paced Environment - Ability to keep a positive attitude during stressful situations and keep up with multiple projects. Proficient use of personal computer and ability to quickly learn and utilize the university software program and systems in the performance of regular duties.

Must be willing to sign and comply with a standard confidentiality agreement, as do all those employed within UCOs Human Resources team.
