Utah Testing and Engineering, a subsidiary of Sunrise Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Materials Testing Technician to support our growing organization. This position will be based in the West Valley area. Qualified candidates could be located anywhere from the Salt Lake City area to Logan. Salary is dependent upon experience and certifications.

Your Impact

The Materials Testing Technician provides both strategic and operational support to service center managers throughout the organization.

• Perform field inspection and document review functions on construction projects, with emphasis on UDOT roadway projects
• Perform Materials Testing field and Laboratory technician responsibilities (SRDTT, CTT, Asphalt, Laboratory etc.)
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Perform general administrative / clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, attending meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents for file management, verbal and written communications with customers; customer service and related functions

Who You Are:

Successful candidates will have some construction experience, preferred candidates will have active UDOT certifications (IQP, Traffic Signal, Crash Cushion, Env. Control, Partnering, Traffic Control, HazMat, SRDTT, CTT, CSTT, Embankment, Asphalt, Aggregate and Laboratory certifications and CEMT) or the ability to obtain certifications as soon as possible.

Minimum Requirements:

• Able to read and interpret Construction plans.
• Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically:
  • Excel - able to add/delete rows and columns, sort and filter, search for data within a workbook and other basic formatting.
  • Word must be able to format documents and letters, and track changes made to documents; must be able to upload documents into a shared online database, such as Dropbox or equivalent.
  • Outlook create/maintain outlook calendar; effectively sort and organize outlook emails
• Valid Drivers License
• ICC Certification
