Located in Minonk, Illinois, SMF (an Etnyre International Company) is a full-service metal manufacturing facility that specializes in heavy and light fabrication for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). We are currently looking for experienced Production Welders, to join our team on 2nd & 3rd shifts, who enjoy their profession and can keep up with our production demands.
Job Duties:
- Determines proper weld requirements from prints, work orders, and instructions
- Sets up components for welding according to specifications
- Operates angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Welds or tack welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
- Sets up weld machine to the correct settings to achieve proper penetration.
- Ignites torch and regulates flow of gas and air to obtain desired temperature, size, and color of flame.
- Tests and inspects work pieces for defects ensuring work order and print specifications are met prior to sending to next operation
- Removes weld splatter from parts
- Moves work piece and final assemblies by means of overhead crane; Signals material handlers to move final assemblies to next production operation
- Stamps all completed parts and accurately records labor as performed
- Performs daily checks of weld machine and keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly
