Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
Essential Functions:
- Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
- Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised.
- Works with Production and Engineering departments to design, develop, test and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Represents manufacturing Engineering on cross-functional teams.
- Create, update, and provide manufacturing instructions in the form of production routings, standard work instructions, and drawings.
- Conduct monthly process audits.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Evaluate and suggest recommendations on the manufacturing quality control processes, types of manufacturing methods to be adopted, list of processes to be followed, tooling and suggest fixturing.
Manufacturing engineer should spend time on research about the tools, methodologies and processes and find out solutions to improve production efficiency and report the findings to the organization.
