Midway University is actively seeking candidates for our Equine Farm Manager. We are a teaching farm and the farm manager will directly supervise full-time and part-time farm staff as well as work directly with students. The farm employs 10-12 work study students as well as winter and summer break help. The farm manager also provides instruction for students and student managers during their mandatory daily chore times.Â
Duties may include, but not be limited to:
- Oversight of the University farm including facilities, equipment, and pastures.
- Oversight and instruction for students and student managers during their mandatory chore times.Â
- Coordinate with farm staff to oversee equine herd health and herd usage for both academic classes and athletic teams.Â
- Develop feeding plans for different classes of horses.
- Responsible for coordinating horse trials, donations, leases, and retirements.
- Schedules professional service providers: veterinarian, dentist, nutritionist and farrier.
- Perform the administrative tasks of running a farm including
- scheduling annual equine veterinary examinations, treatments, vaccinations, and other care;
- managing the farm budget;
- scheduling employees and student workers
- approving timecards and balancing employee workloads.   Â
- Perform other duties as assigned.
