Position Summary:
Mevion is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our Operations team for Summer 2025. In this role, you’ll work directly on the production floor to support the rollout of our next-generation FIT product. Your primary responsibility will be to create and update assembly work instructions that are critical to product quality and operator training.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering student looking to gain real-world experience in a high-tech, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will contribute to meaningful work that supports advanced cancer treatment.
Essential Functions:
1.   Work on the production floor to observe and document mechanical and/or electrical assembly processes for our FIT product.
2.   Take high-quality, in-process photos and develop clear, step-by-step work instructions based on technician procedures.
3.   Collaborate with manufacturing technicians and engineers to ensure procedures are accurate and standardized.
4.   Submit updated documentation through our Engineering Change Order (ECO) system for formal release.
5.   Assist in training new operators using the finalized work instructions.
6.   Support ongoing process improvements and documentation best practices.

Education, Training, and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with documentation or photo tools is a plus.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc.
- Typical office environment.
- The employee will work in high magnetic fields, with high voltages, and with radiation and radioactive materials. The employee may be involved in light rigging operations.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
